THE MOMENT
Is not your typical doctor’s office
We are a physician-owned and managed wellness community offering a variety of behavioral health services. Our approach is mindfulness-based and collaborative in nature. We provide evidence-based and holistic treatments for mental health conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and addiction.
Stacy Cohen, MD
psychiatrist, founder of the moment
Stacy Cohen, MD, is a double board-certified psychiatrist in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago and Rush University, where she served as Chief of Women’s Health, and subsequently completed her fellowship at UCLA Medical Center.
Drawing on her unique background as a surgeon, artist, and healer, Dr. Cohen integrates rigorous Western medical training with a whole-person approach. She is certified in pain reprocessing therapy and incorporates the polyvagal approach in her treatment of chronic pain and illness. Her trauma-focused work centers on “rewiring” the nervous system to foster alignment across the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual self. By addressing mental health through biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions, she helps patients cultivate personal congruence, resilience, and lasting recovery. In parallel, she incorporates the latest evidence-based research and innovative treatment tools to deliver efficient, results-driven care.
Motivated by the fragmentation she observed in outpatient mental health services, Dr. Cohen founded The Moment, a collaborative community of leading professionals dedicated to truly integrative, patient-centered treatment.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Cohen is available for work outside of direct patient care. For more details, please see Services for Professionals.
At this time, Dr. Cohen is available exclusively for concierge-level care. She offers in-depth consultations to assess clinical needs, determine fit, and thoughtfully guide the treatment process. If you are interested in exploring this level of care, please inquire to schedule an initial consultation.

Beverly Reader, MD
Psychiatrist, Director of Trauma, Psychedelic Medicine, & TMS
Beverly Reader, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist, has been in practice for 15 years. She completed her residency at Georgetown University. During her training, she intensely studied various forms of psychotherapy and spirituality, both for her own healing journey, and to improve her skills as a physician. Dr. Reader established a psychiatric practice within a nonprofit mental health clinic organization for inner city HIV+/AIDS patients, worked at the D.C. Jail, and had a private practice.
As she was exposed to patients with many forms of psychiatric issues spanning all demographics, the commonality among most, if not all, was some form of a trauma history that was unhealed. She believes these unhealed parts are asking to be met with empathy, compassion and without judgement, or they will manifest in other ways. In addition to psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, Dr. Reader practices Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), is trained in MDMA assisted psychotherapy, and has a great area of interest in psychedelic medicines in general.
